Maling Peony Rose biscuit barrel with woven wicker handle, luster ware pottery from the 1950's

Maling Luster Ware Peony Rose Biscuit Barrel

£62.00Price

This is a lovely piece of Maling luster ware, the biscuit barrel is a lovely rich deep red colour and has a beautiful peony rose design central band around the body of the biscuit barrel and around the outside of the lid.

Dating from the 1950's, the biscuit barrel is in very good condition, it does have some surface marks commensurate with age and use, and it also has some age related crazing. The gold finial on the lid has some wear and there is a tiny graze underneath the lid (please see photos, I have used a 5p coin for scale).

The handle is made of woven rattan and it's in very good condition.

The base has the castle backstamp.

Measurements:

8+1/2 (21.6 cm) tall to the handle

6+3/4" (17.2 cm) tall to the lid finial

4+1/2" (11.4 cm) wide across the rim

4+7/16" (11.3 cm) wide across the base

7" (17.8 cm) wide from handle to handle
